B'NAI B'RITH ISRAEL COMMISSION

B'nai B'rith's Israel Commission supports projects in Israel to assist the poor and the needy, as well as sick, injured, handicapped and physically disabled people.

We assist the Israel Institute for Guide Dogs, raising puppies and training them until they can be matched up with a blind candidate, giving these blind folk a new lease of life, helping them to become independent and self-sufficient.

We support the Wingate Institute on special programs to help disabled and disadvantaged young people who are training in special programs.   Children have learned horse-riding, underprivileged youth have been trained in physiotherapy, blind people have become professional masseurs, and many young people have been rehabilitated.

In Jaffa and Carmiel, we provide excellent facilities giving after-school care for children of poor and broken families.  The children receive a hot meal, do their homework under supervision and are cared for until their parents return from work.  Thanks to these two centres, children are kept of the streets, thereby protecting them from the temptation of crime, drugs or alcohol. The academic success rate amongst these youngsters proves this is a very worthwhile project.

We provide funds for the soup kitchens that are springing up all over Israel as part of the campaign against hunger.
