Presidents: Joan Black and Erika Bence

Menorah Unit was formed in October 2006 as the amalgamation of Menorah Lodge and Menorah Chapter.

Menorah Lodge started in 1960 with the late Hans Spitz as Charter President.  Menorah Chapter was formed two years later with assistance of members from Melbourne Chapter.

Menorah Unit promotes social and Jewish community participation through various social events, including
*   guest speakers
*   card anagram afternoons
*   luncheons
*   summer picnics
*   afternoon schmooze and coffee sessions, and
*   special events for birthdays and anniversaries, as well as
*   focussed fundraising meetings.

With around 60 members, Menorah has put many leaves on the tree of life, with Menorah members hosting a monthly Friendship Club and weekly Bridge Club and managing Josie’s Opportunity Shop and the B’nai B’rith Benevolent Society to help families in need.

Providing key funding to assist with a range of projects within hospitals, Menorah has also supported a broad range of organisations including the Heart Foundation, Peter McCallum Clinic, Flying Doctors, Salvation Army, 1st Step Clinic, Jewish Care, Hatzolah, Magen David Adom, Women for Women, VJEB, and the Home for Young Disabled.
