Unit Re’ut is the smallest Unit in B’nai
B’rith Victoria. Since its inception in 1989, what it lacks in size, it makes
up in enthusiasm and drive.
We are a group of people with differing backgrounds
and places of birth.
Monthly meetings are held with interesting
speakers and every Tuesday is a gathering of the Scrabble Club.
Re’ut focuses mainly on two major projects.
Its major project is the B’nai B’rith
Jewish Youth Eisteddfod. It brings together and provides music competition for
all Jewish children across the wide spectrum of Jewish life from age 5 to 25
years. The project began with three sections in 1992 and now offers 14
sections. Major scholarships are offered.
The Golden Age Harmony Concert Party was originally
a project of Harmony Lodge. Re’ut Unit continues the practice by organising
regular entertainment and afternoon tea for residents in aged care facilities.
These include the Montefiore Homes, Munzer Homes, Emmy Monash Home and the
Smorgon Homes.
Re’ut members are also involved in the
“Night of Stars”- the Lotte Tenenbaum Memorial Concert that annually raises
much needed funds for four major projects to aid young people in Israel.
