Shalom Lodge was instituted in 1970 and Shalom Women's Chapter in 1971;  they merged in 1990 and became Shalom Unit.  Menorah Unit was incorporated into Shalom Unit in 2010.

Shalom-Menorah Unit is a relatively small but active group of people who meet once a month to hear interesting speakers on interesting subjects. We pride ourselves on providing a wide scope of activities that appeal across a broad range of interests.

As well we run a weekly bridge club the profits from which go to various good causes.

We run an Annual Jewish Youth Art Competition which attracts approximately 200 entries. The winners are awarded monetary prizes and an art scholarship.

Once a year we run a soup and afternoon tea Sunday with the proceeds going to soup kitchens in Israel.

We also run a Melbourne Cup barbecue, a New Year's Eve party, a Gala dinner, a Purim party, a Pesach Film night and other social events. All profits after expenses go to worthy causes.

To put it in a nutshell we are a Jewish social charitable group under the B'nai B'rith umbrella, expecting our members to participate, organise and generally help out. We welcome new members and enquiries should be directed to the B'nai B'rith office on 03 9527 8249.
