A review. “It’s not a memoir, and it’s not a history and it’s not a conventional biography. It’s an engrossing adventure story framed by the real-life occupation of Holland by the Nazis. Gardner has chosen to write the story as a narrative with invented conversations, thoughts and feelings, underpinned by the biographical, genealogical and historical facts and based entirely on documented evidence…” (Lisa Hill, ANZLitLovers)
The author. Dr Paul Gardner AM is a retired academic, the son of German Jewish refugees who emigrated to Australia in 1938. In retirement, he took up genealogical research and has had several papers published in Avotaynu, the US-based international journal of Jewish genealogy. The Unsung Family Hero is his first book-length narrative work.
The book. If you register for the event, you will be able to obtain a copy of the book, signed by the author, just like you could have done at the originally planned launch.
RSVP to one of our upcoming events to get involved with BBANZ across Australia and New Zealand.
