Fresh, Innovative, Energetic:
The Syd Einfeld Unit, named in honour of the late Sydney D Einfeld AO, is a relatively new vibrant group with members coming from all walks of life. The Unit was established in 1996 and the age group tends to be between mid-40 and mid-60.
The Unit welcomes both couples and singles as members. We get involved with benevolent activities like delivering food parcels (Rosh Hashanah and Pesach) to the needy. We provide scholarships for disadvantaged students. We hold regular meetings with interesting guest speakers. We do fund-raising and have a good time in the process. We have donated money to non-Jewish and Jewish causes such as Alzheimer's Association, CanTeen, Microsearch Foundation, Point Zero, and the BBANZ Israel Commission.
Our interests and activities include:
* Outings
* Chanukah BBQ
* Guest speakers
* Film/Theatre Nights
* Book Club
* Annual Werner Gabriel Memorial Music Quiz night
* Weekends away
* Happy Hikers Walking group
* Marshalling for the City to Surf fun run.
Many of our members contribute to other B'nai B'rith activities, so enthusiastic are they about being involved with our organisation - some participate in Courage to Care, others are on the BB Retirement Villages Board, and we also have volunteers for the Bargain Bazaar.
Syd Einfeld Unit administers a scholarship trust through bequests from the Sir John Monash Unit and from Catherine Gluck, in memory of her brother, Frederick B. Lamberger.
