Join us for an insightful presentation with Emeritus Professor Andrew Markus as he examines the findings of the 2024 survey conducted by the Australian Academic Alliance Against Antisemitism (5A), assessing the prevalence and impact of antisemitism across Australian universities.

This comprehensive survey, completed by students and staff at 24 institutions, provides a critical view of the challenges faced by Jewish members of the academic community.

In this event, Markus will delve into the survey’s notable findings, including detailed responses to open-ended questions where participants shared their most impactful experiences of antisemitism and suggested actions universities should take to address it. The survey also covered topics such as safety perceptions, observed behaviours, and reactions from non-Jewish colleagues, offering a nuanced picture of the university climate.

Presented to both the Australian Senate and the University of Sydney inquiry, these findings have sparked important discussions on the need for a commission of inquiry. Join us to explore the complexities of antisemitism on campus and the steps that might shape a more inclusive academic environment.
