Are you interested in being part of an exciting and visionary project collating a history of Melbourne’s Jewish community?
B’nai B’rith understands the importance of history and legacy, so on behalf of the community has joined the Documentation of Jewish Records Worldwide (DoJR) project, aiming to creating a master list of the archival records being held by Melbourne’s Jewish communal organisations, documenting a description of the records being held, a listing of what types of information are available and where they are held.
Via this initiative, Australia is leading the way in contributing records to the DoJR. Phase 1 has been completed with entry of the information currently held by Australian Jewish Genealogical Society (Vic), and the Australian Jewish Historical Society (both Sydney & Melbourne).
Here is where you are important – Phase 2: Cataloguing
Are you interested in Melbourne’s Jewish history?
Would you like to help recruit organisations to join the project?
Are you or someone you know interested in archiving/becoming an archivist?
Collectively, the archival records of Jewish community organisations create a compilation of Melbourne’s Jewish community history. They need to be archived and catalogued NOW, before they are thrown out.
Join us and keep Jewish memories alive!
