B’nai B’rith Joins Appeal for Moroccan Earthquake Victims
B’nai B’rith in Australia has partnered with The Joint in an appeal for funds to aid citizens in Morocco who have been affected by the devastating 6.8 magnitude earthquake that shook Morocco on 8 September 2023.
This earthquake has left a trail of destruction and despair in its wake. Nearly 2,500 lives have been tragically lost and over 2,000 individuals are grappling with injuries in the aftermath of this catastrophic event, which struck near the vibrant city of Marrakesh.
Morocco has a long history with Jewish people living in its land (from Roman times until today), and the country is a partner of the newly established Abraham Accord.
President of Bnai Brith Australia and New Zealand, Dr Benny Monheit, has urged the community to contribute to the Appeal, as every small contribution helps in disaster situations.
For this appeal we have decided to partner with The Joint (The Joint Distribution Committee Australia) which has already been a major responder in the relief efforts on the ground in Morocco.
