B’nai B’rith votes on Voice Referendum

As I am sure your readers know, B’nai B’rith is a Jewish Communal organisation with a long history of supporting the community and championing human rights. Like many other communal organisations our members have debated the merits of the Yes and No case in the forthcoming referendum on the Voice to parliament.

We recognised that some of our members have genuine concerns about the proposal, in particular how it is going to improve the lives of the indigenous people of Australia. However a recent vote by the elected leaders of B’nai B’rith showed  a clear majority were in favour of the proposal and recognised it as an important step towards reconciliation. The hope is that aboriginal people will be able to use the Voice to overcome longstanding inequalities and injustices that have blighted their lives. That’s why the organisation of B’nai B’rith supports the Yes vote.
