Syd Einfeld Unit Mission Statement
To bring Jewish men and women together in fellowship to serve the Jewish and general communities of Australia through various voluntary activities, charitable work, and through carrying out and supporting programs which contribute to the security and survival of the State of Israel.
Fresh, Innovative, Energetic.
The Syd Einfeld Unit, named in honour of the late Sydney D. Einfeld AO, is a vibrant group with members coming from all walks of life. The Unit was established in 1996 and members are aged over 70.
The Unit welcomes both couples and singles as members. We get involved with benevolent activities like delivering food parcels to the needy, and provide scholarships for disadvantaged students. We do fund-raising and have a good time in the process, having donated money to both Jewish and non-Jewish causes.
Our interests and activities include:
* Day outings
* Monthly lunch/shmooze
* Meetings with guest speakers
* Film/theatre nights
* Book club
* Fund-raiser trivia quiz
* Midweek or weekends away
* Walking group
Many of our members contribute to other B’nai B’rith activities, such as Courage to Care, the BB Retirement Villages Board, and the BB Bargain Bazaar charity shop.
Syd Einfeld Unit administers a scholarship trust through bequests from the Sir John Monash Unit and from Catherine Gluck, in memory of her brother, Frederick B. Lamberger.
