B’nai B’rith NSW (BBNSW) will host A Celebration of Unity on Saturday, 13 June, bringing together Jewish, Christian, multi faith and secular communities for a dinner focused on connection, understanding and respectful dialogue.
The event will feature a Havdalah ceremony, live entertainment by Chutney, and showcase traditional hora dancing.
“In this season of strained social cohesion evenings like this are a wonderful way of bringing people together and reaffirming our shared commitment to our common life together in this great country,” said Mark Leach, co-Founder and CEO of Allies for a Strong Australia.
A joint initiative of BBNSW and Allies for a Strong Australia, the evening reflects the Jewish community’s broader commitment to engaging constructively with fellow members across society, regardless of background or religion.
“Bringing people together face to face over a shared meal is incredibly powerful,” said John Szabo, President of BBNSW. “This evening is about celebrating what unites us, while respectfully acknowledging and learning from our differences.”
The evening will centre on Havdalah, the traditional Jewish ritual marking the end of Shabbat and symbolising the transition from the sacred to the everyday, while also offering an opportunity to demystify Jewish practice.
Organisers expect a diverse turnout, with participants encouraged to engage in open dialogue while enjoying a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Tickets are priced at $60 per person, with RSVPs required by 18 May. The exact eastern suburbs location will be provided after booking.
